Twin cable and sliding mass appliance for developing shoulder and arm muscles or for recreational purposes, has two cables (3) of equal-length with handles (4) at their ends and a spherical egg shaped, or disc shaped mass (1), the two cables traversing a single hole in the mass centroid with the effect that the mass can slide along the cables. Two people operate the appliance holding opposed cable ends in each hand, one person causing a divergence of the cable by moving the handles apart, and effecting a sliding of the mass towards his partner and vice versa. Preferably the cables are lined with low friction material or are of auto-lubricating plastic.
