Chemical compounds are determined by reacting the substances with ozone in a reaction chamber of a detector at a specific temp., then measuring the resultant chemoluminescence. The luminescence signal is pref. amplified, converted and recorded. Used esp. for determining gaseous substances, esp. those produced from a gas chromatographic sepn. column, e.g. for determining hydrocarbons, i.e. olefins, diolefins, aromatics and paraffins, as a whole or selectively.
