The connection of a plank (1) to a support (3) uses a plank with a tapering bore (2) and a rod-shaped support with symmetrical cross-section whose outside diameter does not exceed the minimum diameter of the bore (2). The wedge-shaped space in the bore between the plank and the support contains a resilient element (4, 5) which is deformed by relative displacement of plank to support and thus supplies the required retaining force. The element may consist of one or more O-rings or of at least two O-rings of different thickness. The resilient element may be a wedge-shaped component with central bore for the support, the bore being internally covered by a material with high coefficient of friction.
