The heat-insulating shaped-section unit is assembled from separate components for windows or doors and comprises two metal sections interconnected and held at an interval by a plastic section. This has an anchoring piece on each side, engaging in a groove in the relevant metal section and locking behind internal projections in this, the projections being elastically deformable crossways. Each of the anchoring pieces on the connecting section is made in a hollow form. The two hollow pieces may be separated by an interior cross arm in the form of an elastically deflectable spring affected by transverse forces. There may also be hollow side cross arms on the connecting piece, holding the metal sections at an interval apart.
