1470681 Mixing apparatus A BAHR 28 March 1974 [28 Aug 1973] 13889/74 Heading B1C An apparatus for mixing flocculant with sewage sludge comprises a vertically disposed chamber 2 in which is mounted a hollow shaft 4 supporting mixing arms 9 and having hollow radial arms 5, flocculant being fed into the chamber through the shaft 4 and arms 5 which are of different lengths. Raw sludge is fed into the chamber through a connection 1. A basket 10 having mixing arms 11 and the shaft 4 are slowly rotated back and forth, in the manner of a windscreen wiper, in opposite directions. The sludge passes upwardly through the chamber 2 into a reaction chamber 6 from which it passes on to an upper filter belt (13, Fig. 4, not shown) of a filtering press and spread uniformly by a spreader blade (8).
