Letter opener with guide groove for knife - has U-shaped leaf spring with shanks forming hook and knife blade

The letter opener has a handle, a knife and a guide groove for the letter. It has a U-shaped leaf spring (4), one shank of which acts (5) as a locking hook, while the other tapers to a point forming the knife (7). The latter is at approximately 30 deg. to the guide groove, and the hook end is so secured in the handle that the spring knife blade extends into the groove. The handle can have a lower portion with a step ending the grove, and a comb protruding upwards and supporting the hook end of the leaf spring. This end is accommodated in a groove in the upper part, which also has a recess for the spring blade end.
