The valve is in the shape of a cylindrical body with an inlet opening at one end and two sets of inlet and outlet openings (15, 16, 17, 18) located diametrically opposite one another on the cylindrical part. A valve stem (7) protrudes through the rear end (8) of the cylinder. Two valve plates (11, 12) which make an angle of 45 deg. with the valve stem are mounted on this stem. The valve plates lie diagonally over each set of openings. In one position of the valve stem, the flow enters the inlet opening flows from one side opening (15) via a filter into the diametrically opposite inlet and out of one of the other set of connections (17). When the valve stem is turned over 180 deg. the valve plates will lie diagonally over the valve openings in a different orientation, reversing the inlet flow and directing the flow to another outlet.
