Water insoluble azo dyes - for polyesters and cellulose acetate, giving, e.g. red and scarlet shades

The dyes are of formula (I): (where R is Me or Et, R1 is opt. substd. alkyl, R2 is H or opt. substd. alkyl and ring A is opt. substd.), the dyes being free of ion-forming gps. (e.g. COoH, SO3G) which confer water solubility props. The dyes are prepd. by coupling the diazo derivs. of cpds. of formula (II) (also claimed) with cpds of formula (IIIe: (I) is used for dyeing linear polyesters and cellulose tri-acetate fibres, yarns, textile etc.
