Measurement of specific filtration resistance - using electrical sensing of filtration times and digital computation technique

Two or more vols. of filtrate are sensed by electrodes which are connected to a timing and calculating instrument in such a way that the quotients of filtration time divided by appropriate vol. are formed. The difference between the quotients is divided by the difference between the vols. and the result is given on an indicating device or print-out machine. Since the system is automatic it does not require constant attendance by personnel. Time saved is particularly marked with suspensions having high filtration resistance. The filtration vols. and times can be selected to give optimum results and human error in time-measurement is eliminated.
