The tool is for the manufacture of aluminium (or aluminium alloy) sections with a partial coating of wear resistant material, particularly rails carrying an electric current. The sections are produced by extrusion, and the wear-resistant material applied by passing a ribbon or strip of the material through the die at the same time. The strip has a coating of aluminium on one side to affect the joint. Two such strips can be passed, back to back, between two sections being extruded. The extrusion die is of the bridge type, and has a guide system to feed in the strips.
