The musical movement is used in a toy with an oscillating motion, such as a bell or a push-pull toy. It comprises a fixed spindle (1) provided with a gear train driving the rotating drum operating the playing reeds producing the tune. The drive gear (6) drives two final gears (9, 10) these being side by side and enmeshing to operate the movement. A loose pinion (7) transmits the drive from first to final gears and operates in a slot (8) permitting it to mesh with either of the latter, depending on the rotation (A, B) of the driving gear. This drives the movement in one direction only.
