Radiant and convective heating element - has single block with fins and resistance heating wire set into U-shaped slot

The heating element, for heating by radiation and/or convection, is made from a single block with radiant fins (2) and a resistance heating wire seated in a slot (3) in the block. The slot is U-shaped and is filled to its surface by the refractory insulating material in which the resistance heating wire is buried. The slot is set into the U-shaped centre part of the block. The fins extend across the U at right angles to its arms and across the gap between these arms. The electrical connections are made at one end.
