Heading C1A A crystalline synthetic erionite having molar ratios of constituents 1À0Œ0À1[nNa 2 O:(1-n)K 2 O]:Al 2 O 3 : 6À5Œ 1À0SiO 2 where n = 0À25-0À75 is prepared by forming an aqueous mixture containing sodium and potassium oxides, silica and alumina such that 5i0 2 /A1 2 0 3 = 8-14, preferably 10-11 (Na 2 O+K 2 0)/5i0 2 = 0À27-0À36, preferably 0À30-0À32 K 2 0/(Na 2 O+K 2 0) = 0À20-0À45, preferably 0À25-0À30 H 2 0/5i0 2 = 5-15, preferably 7-10, maintaining the mixture at elevated temperature until crystallization occurs and recovering the product. The temperature may be 200- 350‹ F., preferably 250-310‹ F. Crystallization time at 212‹ F. may be 48-240 hours but may be reduced to 8-96 hours at about 300‹ F. The pressure used is normally atmospheric but may be increased above 212‹ F. The recovered crystals may be washed, dried and dehydrated at 500-600‹ F., or may be ion-exchanged with ammonium nitrate solution.
