The machine is particularly for furniture panels as they are continuously transported, turning them upside down about the lengthwise axis of the conveyor. It has an erection surface twisting in the direction of inversion from the horizontal plane, the end of which is overlapped by a receiver surface twisting the rest of the way, both these surfaces being overlapped by an endless conveyor belt acting as a supporting surface. The erection and receiver surfaces are first and second twisted conveyor belts (1, 2) and the belt acting as the supporting surface (7) is so twisted that its surface is always at right angles to those of the other two. The minimum clearance between the first and second belts where they overlap can be greater than the thickness of the items handled.
