The tackle incorporates an eye etc. for engagement by the crane hook, on which two pairs of struts pivot, each pair having at the free end a support for the component handled, the support forming with its strut and the eye a parallelogram linkage. Each support has a clamping device to secure the component handled in place. The clamping devices can be hydraulically operated, and connected to a common master cylinder, whose piston is coupled to the hoist rope. Alternatively, ropes can be run from the supports to the eye to clamp the component in place.
