Stowing shield arrangement on mechanised roof support includes cylinders (3, 6) pivotably mounted with their piston rod on floor rails (4, 4') or bottom end of props of the roof support and pivotably attached with cylinder end to bottom part and top part of the stowing shield. The shield may be constructed of two separate parts sliding into each other and bolted together. This enables several size variations to be achieved between an inclined and vertical position.
