A magnetic wire matrix memory system consists of control wires located in guide channel within plates to provide memory cells with a minimum of cross-talk. A bottom carrier plate (1) of a high permeability material has a number of deep grooves of rectangular cross-section (2). A top carrier plate (6) of a similar material has corresponding grooves of the same width and of shallower depth. The bottom carrier has shallow grooves at right angles into which are set round control wires coated with a magnetic film. Rectangular cross-section control wires are looped through the the grooves in top and bottom carrier plates, which are then located together. The clearance between the control wires is approximately 0.4.
