Hydraulically operated pressure cylinder for transformer windings - uses compression rods penetrating cone held by spring loaded pressure plate

The press with a hydraulically operated pressure cylinder is used for the manufacture of windings for high power transformers or coils. The pressure cylinder has adjustable pressure and compresses the windings to a fixed length by means of winding compression rods. Each winding compression rod (8) penetrates a cone (11) which is divided into several segments with cross-sectional areas parallel to the axis of the windings. The cone is held in position by additional spring loading exerted on a pressure plate (13). The compressive force is fixed after the windings have been compressed by circumferential ribs and fins meshing. The section of the compression rods which penetrates the cone is circular. The profile of the ribs are similar to that of a standard thread.
