The material is fired in a vertical cylindrical shaft kiln into which it is introduced from the top where there is also introduced the air of combustion. The fired fritted together bulk material is ejected by means of an axially applied ejector applied from the top. A parting off device for the core being pushed out is provided at the bottom outlet. The ejector is pref. a hydraulic ram and the parting off device is a photographic shutter like knife unit. The plant is used for the firing of foamed bulk material additive for light and foam concrete making.
