Title cpds. of formula (I) (where A is H or NO2; B is H halogen, or NO2; C is H, halogen or 7-X-4-quinolylamino; X is H or halogen) are prepd. by reacting the corresp. benzoic acid with YCH2 CH(OH)CH2OH (where Y is halogen or an ester gp., e.g. tosyloxy) in an inert solvent (pref. DMF) in the presence of an acid binder (pref. BaCO3). Cpds. (I) have analgesic and anti-inflammatory activity.
