Manual machine gluing inner surfaces of wood joints - spaced perforated plates pierced by slide guides

Perforated plates supported on guides are arrayed opposite slots which have been worked in the end of the wood to be glued. Normally, the plates are kept dipped in the glue pot, which is raised up to them by a spring. To glue a workpiece, the glue pot is lowered away and the workpiece slide forward along guides interpenetrating the plates as far as a stop, i.e. a rod threaded through one of the perforatons which control the quantity of glue taken up. The plates are then moved along their guides to contact first one side of the slots to be glued, then the other.
