Fully mechanised self advancing roof support and coal getting equipment for steep faces inclined 50 -100 deg. in face direction and in direction of advance with caving roof or with full or partial stowing includes self advancing face support with two or three or more rows of props. Each unit of the self advancing face support is fitted on its side facing the coal face with a coal getting device to form a separate roof support and coal getting unit. Each coal getting device is so attached to its support unit that it can be displaced and pivoted relatively to the support unit and is moved against the coal face by the advanced support unit.
