Appts. for treating waste water and sewage, which can be installed inside an aeration tank, operates either by the activated sludge process or by chemical purificn. with air or an oxidising gas consists of a flat supporting surface which carries the air feeding device and a discharge gutter the latter may be parallel or vertical w.r.t. the support, depending upon the shape of the tank, whether it is rectangular or cylindrical. The air feed consists of an extensible tube provided with porous aerators. The box receives the air which sufficiently aerates the contents of the activation zone (I) and recycles any settled sludge out of the reclarification zone (II), via the opening, at the same time it aids in the evacuation of floating sludge from the surface of the latter zone. The gutter has a terminal oblique plate, this is swept by the air leaving the inlet device so that a suction effect is produced to draw the floating sludge from zone (II) to zone (I). Appts. is partic. suitable for small plants with tanks made from metal, plastic matl. asbestos cement or concrete.
