In the layout of the frog-piece, in railway truck crossover points, the heads of two intersecting rails converge in a fixed rail headpiece, while the other two rails heads terminate at an interval from this, leaving an open gap, both gaps being closable by a movable connecting-piece. This can be supported against the head-piece and fits against the slope of the opposite head. The heads (15, 16) are extended to the point of intersection, with two raisl (11, 13) at an obtuse angle, the extension consisting of a rail head-piece (19), forming one of the gaps (23, 24) with each of the two opposed ends of the other two rails (10, 12). One of the two triangular-plan connecting-pieces (21, 22) can always be supported on the section of the rail head-piece associated with the gap which is to be closed, while the other part of its rear fits against the sloping section of the head of the opposite rail.
