Reset mechanism for mechanical counters - uses lever operated cam follower for reset with initial disengagement of transmission sprockets

A mechanical counter has a reset to avoid overloading the main transmission sprockets. The number wheels (4) mounted on a common fixed shaft (5) are indexed by small transmission sprockets (19). The reset mechanism consists of a pivot lever (6) that carries a cam follower (14). The lever has a forked extension (10) with a bridging section (11) contacted by the reset bar (12). - When the reset bar is actuated the transmission sprockets (19) are first moved clear in a profiled slot (21). The bar contacts the bridge (11) and the cam follower lever pivots until the follower contacts the heart shaped cam track (24). The wheels then turn until the zero position is reached.
