Variable geometry drive for windscreen wiper - with hinged eccentric levers and catch to disengage levers

The variable geometry drive for the windscreen wiper linkage has a main drive arm (40) on which is pivoted a secondary drive arm (44) at the end of which is fitted the drive stub (45) for the wiper linkage. The two drive arms are linked together by a catch lever (47) which is operated by a simple servo (35) at the start and end of each wiping sequence. The servo provides a secure coupling of the two levers, which can accommodate large resistance forces on the wipers without distortion, and without causing premature parking of the wipers.
