Reactive power in single phase AC system measuring device - produces two auxiliary quantities proportional to original current and voltage but differing by 45 degrees

The open load measuring device reproduces a d.c. quantity without delay or harmonics. Two auxiliary quantities (u, u and i, i) proportional to the original quantities current voltage (i, u) are produced. Their phases differ by 90 from each other and pref. by plus or minus 45 deg. from the original quantities. - Auxiliary quantity (u) leading the voltage (u) is multiplied by auxiliary quantity (i) lagging behind current (i), and auxiliary quantity (u) lagging behind the voltage (u) is multiplied by the auxiliary quantity (i) leading the current (i). - One of the products is subtracted from the other.
