A clamping head for an endurance testing machine for highly groove-sensitive test pieces has an internally threaded bushing holding the externally treaded end of th test piece. The end of the threaded bushing not facing the test piece has a collar for holding the threaded bushing in the clamping head. - The cross section of the threaded bushing is reduced or tapered continuously at the end remote from the collar. The reduction of the cross section can be obtained by a conical run-out of the casing of the threaded bushing. The threaded bushing (2) is inserted in the clamping head
