A method for briquetting of holzspaenen or similar organic waste materials, for example, shavings from freshly felled wood

Wood chips or similar organic wastes e.g. from freshly felled trees, with high moisture content, or chip board dust with low moisture content are briquetted after addn. of waste sulphite liquor or the dried powder from the latter. Materials outside the moisture range of approx. 5-15% water content suitable for direct briquetting by compression, can be formed into briquettes which do not crumble or fall apart. Specif., material with over 15% moisture content is treated by addn. of up to 15 wt. % powder from evaporation of waste sulphite liquor, pref. from lignin sulphonic acid. Material with less than 5% moisture is treated by addn. of up to 15 wt. % waste sulphite liquor. The mixts. are subsequently compressed into briquettes as usual.
