In a V-belt made of metal plates of trapezoid outline and assembled along an endless belt, the plates are each provided in one of the parallel edges of the trapezoid outline with a recess in which the belt is retainable against displacement in the plane of the plate. The plate (1) may have a rectangular recess (9) in the middle of the short edge of the trapezoid. At each bottom corner of this recess, there is an undercut (10, 11) into which endless loop belts (2, 3) are engaged. Alternatively, the plate may have a lug or lugs for retaining the belts in the recesses.
