Tested relay contacts are connected to a switching time network with a contact chatter counter, and to a resistance measuring unit. Presettable reference values are applied to both units from a rated value generator, and synchronisation pulses from timing generator. The contact chatter counter delivers reference pulses to an automatic tester in a timing generator, which controls a discrete error display. The timing generator also delivers, to the contact chatter counter, synchronisation pulses divided by an integral factor as a switching signal, which connects inputs of the switching time network and of contact chattering counter alternately to the tested contact pairs of the relay.
