Seed tape planter with furrow opener and wheel - glides tape through eyelet into furrow which it subsequently closes

The seed tape planter comprises a chassis (10) with a furrow opener (22), a holder (28) for a reel (30) of seed tape (31), and a wheel (14) which rolls over the seed tape which has been taken off the reel within a furrow formed by the furrow opener. Pref. the furrow opener is of adjustable height, in front of the wheel is a guide for the tape eg an eyelet through which the tape passes, and on the chassis behind the wheel is a furrow closer. The latter may be a chain (40) of which the ends are suspended on both sides of the wheel and in the middle of which is an adjuster chain (42) which is attached to the chassis with adjustable length. The chassis may include a fork (12, 16) in which the wheel is mounted and from which extends a shaft (18), and a marking arm (58, 64, 66) which can be pivoted to both sides of the plane of the wheel to mark out an adjacent furrow.
