The converted belt conveyor is particularly equipped with a C-section so as to deliver material to a point overhead, and it uses two belts, one of which bears against the corrugated edges protruding from the other so as to form a closed box-section chamber in which the material is transported. Both belts (4, 5) have protruding corrugated edges (10, 11), all the corrugations being of the same height. In the transverse direction the position of the edges in relation to each other is such that the chamber between the belts is enclosed on each side by two or more corrugated edges alongside each other. This type of belt conveyor may lift material up steep slopes or even vertically.
