A musical instrument has an extended bed type grip (7) several electrically conducting strings (10) of variable length with a series of electrically conducting finger stop boards (20) mounted on the bed type grip (7). Action of the players finger brings the string (10) and stop (20) into contact forming a circuit producing a cylindrical digital time - multiplex type signal. A large number of storage cells (75) are present attached to the sets of strings (10). A device converts the multiplex signal to information which is then stored in the storage cells (75). Take up elements (30) are associated with the strings (10) to produce control signal in reaction to the vibration of the appropriate strings.
