摘要
The free-standing chimney consists of a rear-ventilated outer sheath, made of reinforced concrete, which accommodates wind and other forces, and a heat-insulated inner tube, made of fireclay, comprising the flue. Projections or ribs (16) are fitted on the inside of the sheath (12), with the heat insulation (14) fitting against them, while ventilated hollow spaces are left clear between the insulation and the sheath. These hollow spaces pref. extend over the whole height of the chimney, and are in contact with the outside atmosphere at top and bottom. At the top end, air bricks or ducts may be used for this link. The hollow spaces may also be linked with each other at top and bottom by cross-connections.
