A cross flow plate type heat exchanger with a block form wall packet of several parallel rectangular spacer walls which have both sides exposed to the flow of heat transfer medium, has the wall packet formed from several strip sections of thin section having straight band long edges, roughly twice the length of the spacer walls. Edges of the strips are bent at 180 deg. to form a series of interlinking folds each closely attached to the adjacent spacer wall, to form a zig-zag flow passage for the heat bearing medium.
