The conveyor belt is made from rubber or plastic, connected by a detachable link pin on installation. The integral belt links (11) are the end members of chain links (17-20) which are embedded in the flexible belt material (14, 15). The chain links are so dimensioned that they match the minimum curvature of the belt drum used. Tension elements such as steel or fibre cables (21) are also embedded in the belt, parallel and in between the chain links. They extend over the full length of the conveyor belt. This belt joint allows a high belt tension without producing a stiff section.
