Light metal hollow profile section mitred connection - in which ends of mitred section are guided internally and externally

Connecting of the corners of mitre-cut soft metal hollow sections when, in the open ends of the hollow section rods, a connecting corner angle is inserted and part of the section wall is pressed into the recesses formed in the corner angle by a pair of press tools arranged symmetrically to the section corner to be connected. The ends of the section rods (1) are guided internally and externally by stops (3, 4) symmetrically to the mitring plane. The press tools (6, 6c), at an angle of 150 deg. to 180 deg. are moved synchronously and with increasing force to the recesses (8). They impinge with their effective edges by such an amount (a) in front of the recesses (8) of the corner angle (2) on the wall of the hollow section, that the ends of the profile rods are pressed together on the mitring face. The wall material is pressed against the corner angle (2) then squeezed, stretched and thinned, expanded in structure and fixed. The tools then press the material into the recesses (8) of the corner angle.
