The diagnostic X-ray equipment has two cinema cameras and allows the frame frequency to be altered (reduced) whilst the object is being viewed. The two cameras are located opposite two orthogonal X- ray tubes, and the switching circuitry that alters the frame frequency to a preselected value is located in the control circuit (15) for the two X-ray tubes (4, 5). The synchronisation of the two cameras (11, 12) with the mains frequency is maintained after altering the frame frequency. The reference value for the frame frequency is obtained from a pulse generator and frequency divider synchronised with the mains.
