A system by means of which the amount of water delivered from a cistern for flushing toilets etc. can be reduced so that water savings may be effected, is constructed in such a manner, that the cut off valve (bell type) can be made to be pressed down in a more rapid fashion. The result of this more rapid downward pressure action is that less water is expelled from the cistern tank in order to produce the requisite water volume savings.
