Investigation of air and water impurities - esp. very fine dust, using flameless atomic absorption spectroscopy

A method of examining impurities (esp. very fine dust) in air and water uses flameless atomic absorption spectroscopy. The sample is continuously or intermittently applied to a moving carrier which is then passed through an analyser. The carrier is a strip of infinite length, not an endless belt. The carrier passes through a sampling device and is would onto a spool which can be removed from the appts. The strip can be inserted into a separate analyser continuously or discontinuously for analysis of the sample. Since the sampling device and analyser are independent, a single analyser can be used to serve a number of sampling points. Sample carriers can be exposed for long periods of time to increase the quantity of impurity collected.
