An auxiliary undercarriage designed particularly for baggage carts or prams facilitates the negotiation of obstructions such as stairs. It consists of an endless chain or link belt passing around guide rollers arranged at a distance from one another. The undercarriage with one side of the chain can be swivelled relative to the plane of travel into an inclined position corresponding approximately to the average angle of inclination of the obstruction which is to be overcome. The undercarriage can thereby be fixed in the position in which the roll-on point of the vehicle wheels lies approximately in the extension of the side of the chain.
