Scoop bucket excavator for underwater excavation - has lateral sensing ropes for stopping machine on excessive loading

The bucket scoop chain excavator is for deep excavation of sand and gravel from below the water surface. The bucket scoops on a chain are guided on the overhanging arm and the buckets are held freely suspended under this arm. The overhanging arm is held on a travelling track laying vehicle on the bank. The bucket scoops are filled on the underside of the overhanging arm and they are emptied on the bank. Two measuring ropes are provided for limiting the lateral displacement of the scoop working under water. Each rope has a measuring arrangement for detecting the force acting on it. These ropes are connected to the far end of the overhaning beam on both sides and on the arms in the upper part of the overhanging arm. The machine is stopped when lateral forces acting on the overhaning guide arm become excessive.
