Spinning top with outer sleeve - is actuated by momentum transfer from spinning sleeve to inner flywheel

The flywheel spinning top toy is operated by rolling the sleeve on a level surface, meanwhile holding the cap (5) and the tip (2) between the fingers. The top is then held upright so that the sleeve is still detached from the tip, and released. The sleeve (4) falls down on the tip (2), setting it spinning, together with the flywheel (6), which is connected with the tip (2). The angular momentum of the sleeve is thus redistributed when the entire top spins. The bevelled upper edge of the flywheel mates with the chamfered inner rim of the cap (5) producing a centring friction connection.
