Pressure die casting machine with inclined injection barrel - which facilitates escape of air and gas during injection

Arrangement of the filling zone or barrel of a cold chamber pressure die casting machine is described. One end of a round barrel is provided in its upper part with a channel leading to the die, whereas the other end of the barrel is provided with a plunger near the inlet in the barrel for the melt. The barrel is inclined w.r.t. the horizontal so that channel end is higher than plunger end. The barrel is pref inclined upwards at 3-20 degrees from the horizontal, esp 5-7 degrees. The inclined barrel damps wave motions occurring on the surface of the melt during injection; such waves can block the ingate to the die prematurely and prevent the smooth escape of air and gas before the melt enters the die.
