Square fuel element casing dimensionally checked - with quick reading sensors mounted in longitudinally sliding reference frame

The device used comprises one or more vertical arms carrying sensors oriented in a cross-sectional plane of the fuel element casing. These vertical arms can be moved longitudinally, parallel to the ideal side faces of the casing in steps, so that a succession of cross-sections can be measured. There are three sensors on each side of the casing, one at the mid-height and the other two located at points just at the corner radii. Used for checking fuel element casings e.g. of 3-5.5m length, where high accuracy in cross-section dimensions, e.g. of plus-or-minus 0.12 mm is required. Rapid surveying of the casings is possible with this device.
