The runner or support for a curtain is suspended from four rollers (7) mounted in pairs inside the hollow curtain rail (K). These rollers (7) support a housing (5) which carries an electric motor (M) which drives a worm (4) and worm-wheel (3). The worm-wheel shaft carries a roller which drives the friction wheels (2). These friction wheels are mounted on the pivoted lever (1) which is pressed upwards by the spring (6). This arrangement ensures that the rollers (2) drive the runner along the rail (K). The friction drive can be disconnected by pulling on the handle (9). Limit switches (11) (12) are operated by the stops (10) to switch off the motor at each end of the rail (K).
