The pole terminal, for a battery, retains the cap (through which the pole connection protrudes) beneath the cover as in the main patent but is developed to make it suitable for heavily loaded batteries. The cap (6) is conical and sits over the top end of the pole conductor (2). The copper terminal (3) passes through the centre of the cover and into the end of the pole. The inside surface of the top of the cap has a projecting lip (7, 8) that supports the cap on the end of the pole and leaves a gap (9) above the end of the pole and beneath the cover. This gap is filled with grease.
