The appliance used in road repair work is for working cold bituminous compounds into depressions in the surface, and esp. for filling worn channels running along the direction of travel. A towed distributor is open for intake of the material. It is bounded at the sides by two parallel sliding skids, interconnected at the end by a cross-piece (u). The open space between the skids is bounded by a ploughshare-shaped symmetrical structure (10), tapering in a wedge shape towards the cross-piece. This can be swivelled, and fixed in place, on the insides of the skids, about an axis (17) set transversely to them. This can be used for accurately levelled filling of narrow grooves, over long stretches of road, without waste and without significant traffic delays.
