The broadband coupler, for common aerial systems, is simple and cheap to make, has an attenuation of less than 10 dB and can be designed for any wave impedance at its input and outputs. The input is connected to two opposing windings wound on the same ferromagnetic core. Each winding (3,5) is coupled to an output (19) over a transformer (13,15) which is earthed at one end. The earthing place via capacitors. The transfer ratios of the two transformers are given by specified equations involving the input impedance, the two output impedances and the turns-number ratios of the windings.
